Copper Locate

Locate an Outage

  1. From the OpenComms Copper Tab select Locate > Outage from the Review/Validate section.

  2. Select a device on the map from where to start calculating the distance of the outage.
  3. Select the beginning copper sheath on the map to display the Outage Pair Selection dialog:

  4. Select a pair range.
  5. Key in the Cable ID and the Pair Number.
  6. Key in the distance from which to locate the outage and click OK to locate the outage:

    The Copper Pair Review dialog box displays, and a crosshair circle appears on the map where the outage should be located.

    To remove the Highlighted crosshair circle from the file, in the Review/Validate section of the copper tab, select the erase temp levels icon:

Locate Slack Points

  1. From the OpenComms Copper Tab select Locate > Slack from the Review/Validate section.

  2. Select a span on the map to start the locate slack command. If a copper sheath has a slack, a circle is drawn around the slack and the view will zoom in on the highlighted slack:

    To remove the Highlighted slack circle from the file, in the Review/Validate section of the copper tab, select the erase temp levels icon:

Locate a Pair

  1. From the OpenComms Copper Tab select Locate > Pair from the Review/Validate section to open the Find Copper Pair dialog box:

  2. Enter one or more fields of information to refine the search.
  3. Click on the Go button.
    Note: If the Re-Window check box is activated, the map displays pair location with a zoom level defined by the Margin entered in the text box.

    Any Pairs located on the network that match the criteria are displayed in the list box at the bottom of the Find Copper Pair dialog box. If more than one pair is found, double click on the pair displayed in the list box to zoom into the pair location.
